何为真正的尊贵

在风平浪静的海洋之上，
每个人都能够担当起舵手的角色。
然而，
倘若只有阳光而缺乏阴影，
仅有欢乐却缺少痛苦，
那么这样的存在便不能称之为完整的人生。
以最为幸福之人的人生轨迹为例——
那宛若一团错综交织的丝线。
其中既有丧失亲人的悲痛，
也有获得祝福的喜悦，
它们相互连接，
使我们时而感伤，时而欣喜，
甚至死亡的存在，
也能让生命变得更加珍贵。
在人生清醒的时刻里，
当人们笼罩在哀伤与失落的阴影之下，
他们反而能够最真切地触及自我本真。
在人生的各个阶段或职业领域中，
品格的影响力远超智力，
内心的感受重于头脑的思考，
天赋的价值不及被判断力所引导的
自制力、耐心以及规律性。
我始终坚信，
那些开始在内心世界追求更高境界的人，
其外在表现也会逐渐呈现出简约之美。
在一个崇尚奢华与挥霍的时代里，
我渴望向世人昭示，
人类真正所需之物，
其实极为渺小。
深刻反思自身的过失，
并决心避免重蹈覆辙，
这方为真正的悔过。
超越他人并非尊贵的标志，
真正的尊贵在于超越曾经的自我。

True Nobility
In a calm sea every man is a pilot.
But all sunshine without shade, all pleasure without pain, is not life at all.
Take the lot of the happiest–it is a tangled yarn. Bereavements and blessings, one following another, make us sad and blessed by turns. Even death itself makes life more loving.
Men come closest to their true selves in the sober moments of life, under the shadows of sorrow and loss.
In the affairs of life or of business, it is not intellect that tells so much as character, not brains so much as heart, not genius so much as self-control, patience, and discipline, regulated by judgment.
I have always believe that the man who has begun to live more seriously within begins to live more simply without.
In an age of extravagance and waste, I wish I could show to the world how few the real wants of humanity are. To regret one’s errors to the point of not repeating them is true repentance. There is nothing noble in being superior to some other man. The true nobility is in being superior to your previous self.
